J. Wyatt Frampton, DVM, MPH, DACVPM
HumaneVMA UTAH STATE REPRESENTATIVE

Dr. J. Wyatt Frampton was raised in Utah and earned his veterinary degree from Colorado State University in 1987. After graduating, he worked in large animal medicine and surgery outside of Utah.

In 1994, Dr. Frampton began his career as an epidemiologist at the Utah Department of Health, where he focused on Hantavirus and other zoonotic diseases. Five years later, in 1999, he joined the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food as a regulatory veterinarian—a role he held for 14 years. During this time, he observed that the State Veterinarian’s office frequently prioritized the interests of producers over those of the animals.

Dr. Frampton was an adjunct instructor for a veterinary technology program for about nine years. He worked full-time for almost a year as a clinic veterinarian for the same program until it closed. He then spent a decade working with a high school veterinary assisting program, where he initiated a spay and neuter program for community cats and eventually extended these services to all shelter animals, giving students valuable hands-on experience in veterinary medicine.

Following a brief one-week retirement, Dr. Frampton has returned to small animal practice, with plans to devote more time to community cats.
